Product development/Founding Software Engineering Role requiring 3+ years experience

About the Tayari group

The Tayari Group is a family owned group of companies with headquarters in Kenya, we are a rapidly growing global market leader in the service, investment, hospitality, training and coaching industry. It currently consists of 3 companies and employs 8 employees. This role will support Tayari.live, responsible for the education activities, and Real estate empire, responsible for the investment activities, both companies within the Tayari Group.

Overview

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to quickly learn the business and act as the CEO’s right hand in both day-to-day execution and strategic initiatives. We envision this role growing to take up a mid-level managerial role with successful performance.

This role will be based in Kenya or Nigeria but it is 100% remote.

Duties and responsibilities

The candidate will use strong leadership and problem-solving skills to assist with the daily operation of an organization. They will dive into the exciting world of ed-tech, and support the implementation and maintenance of technology and media resources within our organization. The candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Work with the CEO to ship software periodically
• Code, in typescript mainly, we are still open on the additional programming languages of choice, we are leaning to typescript/ ionic using various low-code platforms along with HTML5 games generated on platforms such as Phaser.
• Design and edit online games using templates and online game creation platforms to bring our curriculum to life.
• Assist in the management of digital and multimedia content, including audio, video, and digital assets, ensuring their accessibility and optimal use across various platforms. 
• Set up and troubleshoot technical equipment, providing technical support to staff or clients.
  Update and maintain websites or digital platforms using WordPress and other CMS’s, using JavaScript, typescript etc.
• Assist in the production and editing of digital content. 

Candidate Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience)
• 3+ years of demonstrable experience architecting and developing web/mobile applications with Typescript, HTML 5, Javascript (Phaser experience a plus), React, Next JS. Backend experience with server management is a big plus.
• Demonstrable experience with Front End development.
• Demonstrable experience writing type-safe code with Scripting languages.
• Blend of technical skills and creativity, with a strong understanding of current media trends and technology tools.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• 3+ years of management consulting or similar field experience
• 2+ years of management experience
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must
• Concise, persuasive, and authentic communicator both verbally and in written communication
• High gear operator who doesn’t take no for an answer
• Superb judgement and integrity, unparalleled confidentiality, and sophistication in all aspects of work
• Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives

You will need to be comfortable with regular update meetings with the team to plan and strategize.

For the hiring process we will be giving out practical assessment tasks with video interviews, as needed, for shortlisted candidates. The first 3 months of working will be probational and payment based on a per task accomplished. During this probationary period, you may start on 50% of the pay scale based on your skills assessment.
