Ruby on Rails Senior Software Engineer - Remote - R1.4m PA

An opportunity has been made available for a Senior Software Engineer with Ruby on Rails experience, we are looking to hire a talented Engineer to join a team that helps thousands of health professionals access preventative care options which lead to better, long-term health outcomes for clients across the world!

Successful candidate will be in charge of developing new features that directly impact the lives of patients and clinicians, enabling more personalized, effective care.

What you need to grab with role:

• 5+ years commercial experience with Ruby on Rails, including building scalable, performant web applications
• 10 Years commercial development experience
• Proficiency with JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks (React is a plus)
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases, with a focus on optimization and scalability
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker) and other modern DevOps tools.
• Prior experience in healthcare tech or working with healthcare-related integrations like TPP SystmOne is a huge plus
• Experience taking a product from zero to one—owning key features or components from ideation to launch
• A desire to grow into a Team Lead position and contribute to shaping our engineering culture and technical direction
• Previous experience in a start-up or agile development environment
• Experience with search technologies like ElasticSearch/OpenSearch

What you will be doing:

• Architecting the Future: Design and build scalable, high-performance software solutions using Ruby on Rails that can handle millions of users and complex healthcare workflows
• Code Quality & Leadership: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that is easy to test and scale
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them grow and elevate the quality of the team's work
• Collaborating Across Teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to ensure we're building the right things and delivering them effectively
• Contribute to the entire software lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, making meaningful decisions at every step
