As a Technical Lead - BI you’ll be part of a team that serves as the collective technical subject matter experts, responsible for the effective and efficient performance of products, providing technical direction and mentoring to the greater teams and ensuring innovation is at the forefront of development.. What you’ll be doing
As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating Duties:
- Management of the technical execution of the solution.
- Focus is the integrity of the systems with regards to quality, stability and scalability.
- Owns the construction and delivery process of systems developed.
- Deal with internal Clients on a technical level.
- Liaison between Teams and other departments as necessary. Work with cross-functional Team for requirements that need other Team’s involvement.
- Maintenance of current systems and the development of new systems using available and new technologies as they become available.
- Analyze, detect, identify, and correct technical problems and deficiencies.
- Independently analyse and resolve complex and high impact production issues.
- Transfer of technical knowledge to the greater team.
- Prepare technical design specifications according to Business requirements.
- To act as example to all the Members of the Team by being the person who most closely follows the principles and practices.
- Familiarize the Team with the development process, design standards, techniques, and tools to support task performance.
- Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other Team and technology Teams.
- Inspire innovation in Team.
- Introduce new technology to the Team.
- Drive User Experience design and Research and Development in the team.
- Help define the overall programming standards within the area
- Responsible for signoff on progression of all individuals within the area – They must provide the go ahead for the Team lead
- Help with definition of the overall learning path for individuals in the portfolio
- Help with the drive to the cloud
- Help define the process to ensure code quality as well as helping to ensure that it is enforced. Should be working with the Team Leads to ensure that this is defined
- Develop rich applications using the latest technology.
- Architect efficient and reusable systems that drive complex applications.
- Have an active role in all features and design decisions, defining system architecture.
- As Technical Lead be involved in defining development best practices and applying them in a large, distributed Development Team.
- Ability to maintain existing code base with variant designs and implementations and strive towards a better tomorrow.
- Have an active role in planning and agile process with team.
- Transfer knowledge to team and upskill team members
- Duties to Engineering Lead:
- Technical guidance and mentoring of Developers.
- Assist the Development Manager in the selection of new Recruits.
- Build, implement and enforce the on-boarding process for new Recruits.
- With the Team Lead and Software Development Manager, plan, develop and implement backup and recovery procedures.
- Assist in the progression interviews of employees at all levels.
- Assist in the definition of standards, technical processes, and architectural alignment
- Assist in technical alignment with the entire portfolio
- Work with the EL to help define shared frameworks so that we do not recreate the wheel
- Willing to adopt and implement new technologies as introduced by the Architecture team as negotiated between Team and Architecture.
- Taking responsibility and ownership of implementation of best practices, coding standards and relevant methodologies with the guidance of the Architecture Team.
- Responsible for the communication and enforcing of the coding standards through methods such as CI and Code Reviews.
- Ensuring that the Engineering Lead & Architecture Team’s vision is implemented when building or maintaining systems.
- Assist in the compilation and delivery of system documentation to the Engineering lead & Architecture Team.
- Assist in driving system and development methodologies as determined by the Architecture Team.
- Ensure that deployed solutions operate according to architectural specifications.
- Ensure that architectural guidelines are followed in the team as specified by the Architecture Team.
- Report technical debt to the Engineering Lead & Architecture Team.
- Reduce technical debt under the guidance of the Architecture Team.
- Monitor and collect data on system performance as required by the Architecture Team.

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table
The necessary skills that we require for this role include:
- At least 5 years’ hands-on development experience.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL
- Advanced understanding of how to deal with big data
- Exposure and usage of SSIS
- Exposure and usage of SSRS
- Exposure and usage of PowerBI
- Exposure to using Kafka for data streaming
Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve
It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:
- Computer Science related degree, diploma, or similar qualification.
- Experience in API's (JSON / REST)
- Message queuing services.
- Knowledge of no-sql. e.g., Mongo Db
- Diagramming of systems and processes
- Azure exposure dealing with data solutions
- Exposure and understanding of Object orientated principles
- Exposure to programming languages like Python or C#
