Tool Room Manager - Plastics

RPO Recruitment is looking for a skilled and experienced Tool Room Manager specializing in plastics to lead our client's tool room operations in Johannesburg. This crucial role will involve overseeing the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of all plastic molds and tooling, ensuring efficiency and quality across production processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all activities within the tool room, including tool design, manufacturing, and maintenance.
• Lead a team of toolmakers and technicians to ensure high-quality production of plastic components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production departments to develop and optimize tooling processes.
• Implement and enforce safety standards and best practices in the tool room.
• Monitor production schedules and tool performance to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
• Conduct regular training and development sessions for the team on new technologies and processes.
• Evaluate tooling designs for accuracy and efficiency, making recommendations for improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of all tools, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Remain current with industry trends and advancements in tooling technologies.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tool Room Manager or in a similar supervisory role within a plastics manufacturing environment.
• Trade Test Certificate or equivalent qualification as a Toolmaker.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in tooling, with a focus on plastics, preferably in injection molding.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Proficient in CAD/CAM software and CNC machinery operation.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience with quality control procedures and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
